Quotes from David Boreanaz, who is being deliberately vague:
"I think the show's ready to explode, and we're going to see that happen towards the end of this season. From episodes 18 to 22 we'll see a new beginning with the show. I think our fans will be really excited about it".
He won't be returning to Sunnydale full-time for any potential Buffy spin-offs. "No, it's over with. I just don't see that happening". But he does have this annoyingly vague thing to say about season five: "I think that with the new beginning for the show that's going to happen at the end of this season... it's important for the characters to go somewhere different and see where it takes them. I can't really tell you what's going to happen, but it's going to be a blast".
Other information gleaned from the magazine: Gina Torres' character is involved in a very exciting story arc. "Her character will be pivotal to the changes that are going to happen inside all of our characters". But you probably knew that already.
The Angel gang are - yet again - going to be uprooted. "Everything's going to change, including our living conditions. We'll be finding ourselves somewhere else which gives us some new motivation".
David Greenwalt: "I'm not sure we're going to blow up the hotel, but the notion is of them going to a place that is more like an advertising agency, lots of glass and light. It's going to be great, and of course there'll be visitors from the Buffy-verse, including a possible regular from the Buffy-verse. And I think these ideas are so strong that it could run two years. It would be a whole new show. I give Angel a better than 50/50 chance of coming back next year. I think it has a pretty good shot".
David Greenwalt also talked about the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "I think it is time for the show to end. But what they have planned for the finale is so extraordinary. It's like the size of The Lord of the Rings, in terms of the bigness of the battle. It's just great". (Possible slight exaggeration there, but I'm still looking forward to it).
Most intriguingly, James Marsters revealed at a recent convention that Joss Whedon had promised Spike an appearance in Angel, if it's renewed. So it looks like those rumours of Spike's death weren't true after all...
