Hermione hopes the boys will never find out who her new lover is. She knows she'd never hear the last of it if they did.
They gave her a hard enough time over Lockhart: teasing over Valentine's cards and singing dwarves and her reaction to the teacher's praise. And as for Ron's silly fake coughing…
And that was only a twelve-year-old girl's crush. It meant nothing, really, and they knew that, but they still teased her rotten.
She dreads to think what they'd have to say about her tastes in men if they ever found out the one she's currently seeing is *another* DADA teacher.

"You know I can't do that. He's been my best friend since I was eleven. What kind of friend would I be if I dropped him for my boyfriend?"
"I came to Dumbledore's side for you! You *know* what that cost me in pride, but I did it anyway, for you."
"Then you've sacrificed a lot already. Can't you do this one last thing? Just learn to live with Harry?"
"No. I've put up with him long enough. And Weasley too. You've always known I can't stand them."
"You want me to drop Ron too? Are you planning to let me keep *any* friends? I'm sorry, Draco, but I choose Harry."
Draco sighed. "Hermione! Wait!"
