Watched The Second Coming last night, with Chris Eccleston who, as ever, was generally great.

This is something I've often thought about: in today's world, if the Second Coming were to happen, would it be believed? Wouldn't the reborn Jesus just be thrown straight into a mental institution? I used to get quite scared at the thought "What if it's already happened?"

With all the crazies out there claiming to be the Messiah, how could anyone be sure one of them wasn't for real?

I think that if Jesus was reborn and claimed it and people knew it, he'd end up spending one third of his life filling out papers and forms so everything he did would be sanctioned by governments and groups that wanted him on their side ("The Son of God supports us. You should support us too!"), one third appearing on talk shows, and the other third drinking himself into a stupor because the world is so damn insane and barely worth the effort of saving.
