I nearly got hit by some stupid bitch on a pelican crossing this morning on the way to work.

(For the non-British or otherwise unaware, they're crossing points where pedestrians have automatic right of way and cars have to stop until there's nobody trying to cross.)

She just came tearing up the road, didn't even slow down until she was about two feet away from me, and then when I glared at her, glared back and mouthed something about "late". I have no idea if she meant 'I'm late', 'I didn't see you until late', or something else entirely, but I don't really care.

I could see her coming, so there's no way she didn't see either me on the road or the big yellow flashing lights at either side. Stupid bitch could have killed me and she didn't even apologise.

*fulminates*

Oh good grief! It never ceases to amaze me how people ignore crossings. There's one I use every day near my hosue and I don't step out now till the cars have actually stopped because there have been too many close calls and then I get glared at for holding them up! Well they'd be held up even more if I was knocked over!

Here, pedestrians are always supposed to have the right of way, but you'd never know. Denton is a small town, its not like trying to cross a street in New York or something, right? It only got worse when they tore the road up to repave it, like because the little lines on the street were gone it wasn't a crosswalk anymore despite the sign still standing at the corner.

Of course, the city did something very wise and put a reverse speed bump in, so now people have to slow down. Mwahaha!
