My flight itinerary for the America trip in July.

13 July - London-Charlotte, depart 10.30, arrive 14.20
Charlotte-DC, depart 15.45, arrive 16.59

17 July - Baltimore-Las Vegas, depart 07.00, arrive 08.45

19 July - Las Vegas-San Diego, depart 11.25, arrive 12.36

24 July - San Diego-Philadelphia, depart 06.40, arrive 14.50
Philadelphia-London, depart 20.45, arrive 09.00

So. Questions.

Jen and Jess, is that an okay time for you, or should I amuse myself for a few hours until it's more convenient?

Twiller, I think I won't have to leave your house at too horrible a time to get to the airport. Midnight or 1am would be more than safe, for check-in and stuff.

Any folks in DC, how close is Baltimore-Washington International to the city?

And finally, I will be stuck on layover in Philadelphia for about six hours. Anyone live there and care to come keep me company?

At 4.59pm, you're going to be best off taking public transit from BWI. While, when there's no traffic, it's only about a 30-40 minute drive, in rush hour, it can take anywhere from an hour to two and a half. (and I only wish I was kidding)

The easiest way is to hop on the courtesy shuttle over to the MARC station and get a ticket for the MARC train (I believe it's $6 -- I put that information over in the millicons community) which will take you directly to Union Station, where you can catch the metro. Ping me if you have any more questions. :D

:-p Well, fine then. XD

The problem you're going to run into on the flight out is that public transit doesn't start until 5am, so you'll likely have to take a cab. The hotel website says that the flat fee for a cab to BWI is $60. It's not actually all that long a ride before rush hour (which starts around 5.30 or 6); probably leave 45 minutes, I'd say, an hour if you're the nervous sort. :)

Or take the last possible public transport the night before and take a teddy bear and pajamas along.

Airport terminal sleepover!

There are a variety of shuttles (such as SuperShuttle) you can take to the airport as well, depending on where you are gonna be going from. Also, there's a bus (B-30 if my memory serves me) that goes straight to the airport from the last stop on the green line, Greenbelt. No clue when the first one is though.
