As they flew away from what remained of Alkali Lake, Mystique lay down in the back of the helicopter and closed her eyes. The pain she'd felt, and worse, the rapid changes into every form she'd ever worn, had exhausted her. Now, she just needed to sleep.
Their new young recruit looked at her with some concern.
"Will she be OK?" he asked.
"Oh, she'll be fine, my boy. Her exertions of today, both voluntary and involuntary, have rather taken it out of her. But she'll recover. Never underestimate the healing power of hatred, Pyro. You'll learn that, with us."
