I don't get how they choreographed the scenes with multiple Smiths. I mean, two or three would probably have been relatively easy, but 100 must have verged on the impossible. Did they just get 100 people of the same height and build as Hugo Weaving, and digitally put him in later, or what?

I believe that large portions of it were entirely computer graphics (in fact, it's a bit obvious in places) - they did full scans on the actors and stacks of motion-capture on the various fighting moves, then put it together in the computer. Figuring where the live action stops and the CG begins is all part of the fun ;-)

There's at least one very obvious point near the beginning of the fight too where it's obvious that it's not Smith being kicked around by Neo... try not to blink though;)

There were a few dozen stunt men who were his height and build as you say. They also had 'Weaving wigs' on, that is, they had to have their heads shaved to match Hugo's 'large forehead' as he delicately put it. ;)
