My fic rec of the week. No, month. No, year

Sometimes, a trawl through FF.net turns up absolute gems. Like this one: The Empty Room by Ashura. It's slash for The Dark is Rising, but not the usual Bran/Will, although that's part of it. It's Bran/Barney after Will's "death", since it's never made clear whether he's really dead or not. It doesn't actually matter, to be honest . You can be haunted by ghosts of the living, and alive or dead, Will's ghost is present in every word of this story.

This piece is melancholy and angsty and romantic and so, so beautiful. It's possibly the best TDiR slashfic I've ever read.
