If I was, theoretically, planning to extend my trip to the States in July so I can take in San Diego Comic Con... two questions.

Do I have to pay if I don't want a four-day pass?

And what is the best way to get from DC to San Diego, bearing in mind I have three days to kill in between?

KATE! Holy hell. Fly to San Diego. Or you can even fly to Vegas, we'll take care of you, and then you can do the five hour drive to San Diego or take a commuter flight back to San Diego.

BUT COME SEE US! Jess and I will get you tickets to see SHOWS. See? We win. (VEGAS)

...you are a wicked temptress.

Cirque du Soleil tickets?

I don't have a UK driving licence, let alone a US one. Would it be cheaper to fly to San Diego from there or get a bus or something?

With gas what it is, I'd say check the ticket prices. It's a five or six hour drive to San Diego I believe, so you might just prefer flying.
And I can get you a ticket to KA. I'd have to use up every comp I have to get you to the other shows, and O is always frickin' sold out. Jess can probably work out a Le Reve ticket, and of course we can take you to visit backstage.
Sorry, I'm all excited with the prospect.

*grins* KA will be just fine. It's Cirque, dude. And backstage, yay!

When I get home from work, I will figure out the final arrangements and book my travel.

See the icon? That's my excited face.
Let me know, dearest!

I don't know what plane fares from Vegas to San Diego are - but train is about 75 US dollars. (approximatly) - but also about 9 hours between bus and train.

Greyhound (the bus only) is about 50 dollars, and about an hour longer.
