Elrond wished sometimes that he'd never had children. His twin elflings, Elladan and Elrohir, ran their mother and their nurses ragged, and it seemed that not a day went past without some new complaint about damaged property.
His contemplation of the trouble young ones brought was interrupted by a scream. Oh Eru - that sounded like Elladan. What were the twins doing now? He walked out to investigate, only to speed his pace when he saw Glorfindel running from the stables. Glorfindel never ran. And was that Elrohir in his arms?
"A horse kicked him in the ribs, my lord. I will take him to the healers."
As Elrond followed close behind, he prayed to the Valar for Elrohir's quick recovery. And he promised never to wish not to have children again.
