I always had a huge crush on Ulfin for some reason. Maybe it's just that I always pick out the minor characters, but that passage in the third book (I think) where Merlin and Ulfin are travelling together gets me every time.

They're sitting together by their campfire, and Merlin looks at Ulfin and thinks about how they've known each other since they were kids, and Ulfin has this kind of resignation that comes from knowing he'll spend his life alone or with other men, because of what Belasius did to him.

Ulfin is very possibly gay, and definitely fictional, but I fell head over heels in love with him the second I read that passage. One day, I'll write that fic that's lurking in the back of my head, about retelling the books from his POV...
